When you study abroad you are investing money in an institution that is often thousands of kilometres from home. Before choosing, check who is behind the school.
Look for recognition and accreditation
Many destinations have organisations that assess or recognise language schools. The bodies and the rules vary by country, but a relevant accreditation is an important way to check that a school meets certain standards.
Look past the photos
A pool, a beautiful building and smiling students make a good brochure. You also want to know how many students are normally in a class, how many hours of lessons there are per week, how your level is decided, how your progress is tracked, which services are included, and who helps if a problem comes up.
Understand the course you are buying
"English course" can mean very different things: general, intensive, exam preparation, business English and more. Make sure the course matches your goal.
Be suspicious when something looks too good
Extremely low prices with no explanation, vague information, or pressure to pay immediately all deserve attention.
Do not be afraid to ask questions before paying. A serious school can explain clearly what it is offering.
At Bid and Study only verified and accredited schools take part, so this part of the comparison starts on safer ground.
