After you come back: putting the experience to work

The trip ends. What you do with it afterwards can last much longer.

3 min read

Your time abroad does not necessarily end when you fly home. The experience can keep paying off professionally and academically.

Do not just write "English course"

Explain what you did: the school, the city and country, how long, the level you reached where it is relevant, any exams taken and certificates received.

Think about the skills you built

Living in another country usually involves much more than learning a language. You may have developed independence, intercultural communication, adaptability, confidence and the ability to handle unfamiliar situations.

Keep using the language

Coming home and stopping completely is how people lose part of their progress. Keep reading, watching, listening and above all speaking.

Keep your contacts

Classmates you met on the course may be spread across the world a few years later. Those friendships are part of the value of the experience too.

Studying abroad may last a few weeks or a few months. What you do with it afterwards can last much longer.

Still choosing your school?

Tell us the course, the destination and the budget you are looking for. Accredited schools can send you offers to compare. You compare, and you choose.
